Dr. Ercüment Çiçek, faculty member in Computer Engineering Department,  received IEEE Turkey Section 2019 Research Incentive Award due to his contributions to machine learning techniques for the analysis of genetic diseases.

EEE Turkey Section 2019 Research Incentive Awards are given to faculty members who reside in Turkey, are distinguished by their scientific activities and contributions to their field, have finished their PhD studies at most 10 years ago, and did their research work mostly in Turkey.

The award ceremony was held on October 3, 2020, via zoom platform.

Our M.S. student Yusuf Sait Canbaz won the 1st Place Reward in TigerGraph 2020 Graphathon with his software called Davraz.  Yusuf Sait Canbaz is doing M.S. study under the supervision of Prof. Uğur Doğrusöz in Bilkent Computer Engineering Department. There were 331 participants in the competition. The software can be downloaded form: https://github.com/canbax/davraz.

Our undergraduate student Merve Kılıçarslan participated in Google Summer Code program under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Uğur Doğrusöz. She finished the program successfully.

The project proposed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ercüment Çiçek (CS faculty member) and Asst. Prof. Dr.  Erman Ayday (adjunct CS faculty member) on Privacy Preserving Genomic Data Sharing received 1.2 Million USD support from NIH (National Institutes of Health) R01 Research Support Program. The support is for 4 years.
