Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Dündar received EC H2020 MSCA IF grant.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Dündar‘s project is funded by European Commission Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF) program. The title of the project is “3D image synthesis with deep neural networks“.

3-dimensional image synthesis is a technology to render objects from different views which enables numerous applications in computer graphics and computer vision. As the digital world is becoming more crucial especially in the times of pandemic, such technology can provide tools for online classes, virtual social tours, improved gaming experience and simulators for robotics by providing realistic virtual 3D environments. This project will focus on the 3-dimensional image synthesis capabilities powered with deep neural networks.

CS mentorship program admitted 72 new junior students into the program.

This year (2021) CS mentorship program admitted 72 new junior students as mentees into the program and matched them with their mentors. The mentors are Bilkent alumni, graduated mostly from computer engineering department. First, interested 3rd year students applied to the program in December 2020. Then the students (mentees) and the mentors  came together at a zoom meeting on January 20, 2021. In the meeting, mentees introduced themselves and their career interests. In this way mentors had a change to learn about the mentees.  Mentor-mentee matching is done during the next three weeks.  Mentees are meeting (over zoom or other channels) with their mentors to discuss a variety of issues including their career plan.
