Dr. Dündar received her B.S. degree from Boğaziçi University in 2011 and her Ph.D. degree from Purdue University in 2016. Her Ph.D. thesis is on machine learning with a title “Learning from Minimally Labeled Data with Accelerated Convolutional Neural Networks”. Between 2016 and 2020, she worked at NVIDIA, Santa Clara, USA. In NVIDIA, she worked on deep learning and computer vision. Dr. Dündar’s research fields and interests are machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and software/hardware support for machine learning.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Ercüment Çiçek has been awarded Aziz Sancar Incentive Award by the Health Institutes of Turkey (TÜSEB).
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ercüment Çiçek has been awarded an Aziz Sancar Incentive Award by the Health Institutes of Turkey (TÜSEB). The award aims to honor the scientific achievements of Nobel Laureate Aziz Sancar. The Aziz Sancar Incentive Award is given to young scientists who are under the age of 40 and have proven their potential to make international impact with their research.
Dr. Çiçek has been granted the award based on his research in the field of bioinformatics. His research topics include machine learning based discovery of genetic disease risk genes, ensuring the privacy of individuals in genomic data sharing and automated surgeon support systems.
Dr. Çiçek, got his Ph.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University in 2013. During his Ph.D. he has worked as a visiting doctoral student at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in 2012. Then, he has worked in Carnegie Mellon University as a postdoctoral fellow. Since 2015, he has been working at Bilkent University as a full-time faculty member and at Carnegie Mellon University as an adjunct faculty member.

EEE Turkey Section 2019 Research Incentive Awards are given to faculty members who reside in Turkey, are distinguished by their scientific activities and contributions to their field, have finished their PhD studies at most 10 years ago, and did their research work mostly in Turkey.

Our M.S. student Yusuf Sait Canbaz won the 1st Place Reward in TigerGraph 2020 Graphathon with his software called Davraz. Yusuf Sait Canbaz is doing M.S. study under the supervision of Prof. Uğur Doğrusöz in Bilkent Computer Engineering Department. There were 331 participants in the competition.
